About us

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides acute services from two large district general hospitals, as well as outpatient clinics, diagnostics and some surgical services from community hospitals throughout Gloucestershire.

Our 9,000 colleagues provide services to almost 620,000 people across our county, and we have an annual income of £620m.

Our five-year strategic plan sets out an ambitious yet achievable programme to transform hospital services and provide care for the next generation of patients at our hospitals, enshrined in ten strategic objectives This plan is called “Our Journey to Outstanding”, and includes significant and exciting transformation that will ensure we achieve our vision of “Best Care for Everyone”. Importantly, this vision extends to providing best care to our staff.

We have delivered significant transformation in recent years, including the reconfiguration of our two sites to reflect Centres of Excellence with one focusing on urgent care and the other on planned care, alongside the major deployment of a new electronic patient record. During this process we have received multiple national and regional awards reflecting the excellence of our teams and our services. The Trust was rated as ‘Requires Improvement’ by CQC in its last comprehensive inspection and has a comprehensive transformation and improvement programme in place.

We are a key partner in the One Gloucestershire Integrated Care System (ICS) and are proud of the work we have undertaken to improve outcomes alongside our partners. The ICS is no less ambitious for our population than we are, and we believe their priorities align well with our own.

Our strategic objectives, mission and vision

To achieve the best for our patients, their families, our staff and our communities, we need cohesive and focused priorities for the coming years. It is important that we all pull together, with the focus on patients and our strategic objectives will ensure that this happens. If we achieve our objectives, we will move closer towards our vision of the future: Best Care for Everyone.
