Executive Recruitment

Thank you for your interest in the role of Chair at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS FT.

It goes without saying that the last two years have been like no other time for the NHS. We have had to adapt quickly and the whole country has been in awe of how NHS staff have worked together to respond to the pandemic, and how amazing our local communities have been.

The NHS continues to face a number of unprecedented challenges, not least managing the legacy of the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on waiting times, in addition to tackling deep rooted health inequalities and staff shortages. This is set against a wider backdrop of challenges including the need to adapt to changing health needs and preferences, and the ongoing changes in treatments, technology, and care. At the same time, the cost of continuing to provide services requires us to continually review how we deliver care to achieve our statutory financial duties. Transformation is happening at every level as systems, including our own, strive to meet these challenges. The NHS of the future will be about system partners working together to deliver the best quality experience and outcomes for patients in a sustainable way. This is a challenging and exciting time to be shaping the future of NHS services.

We have an exciting and challenging agenda ahead of us; one focused on delivering exceptional services to both rural and urban populations and creating a culture where everyone, whatever their background or characteristics, feels valued and are able to realise their potential. To achieve our aims, we need a diverse and talented board with a range of skills and experience which effectively reflect and represent our stakeholders and the context within which we operate. The new Chair of our Trust will be taking on a critical leadership role at a pivotal point in our organisation and county’s history, helping us to deliver our vision of being collaborative partners in a system which provides great care to our local communities. The role offers the opportunity to shape the future of healthcare for the people we serve, driving integration and innovation in the context of a changing local and national picture.

We are seeking a Chair who can add genuine value to our Board - in particular, we are keen to speak with candidates from a wide range of backgrounds including commercial and those with experience gained within public services and the voluntary sectors - those who understand the complexity of working with multiple partners and stakeholders and a track record of operating at Board level. Above all else, we want someone who lives and breathes our values, and who will want to put the patient at the heart of everything they do.

I hope the information on this this website provides you with all the information you need. If you would like to know more, please contact our advisers Jim Canning or Melanie Shearer at GatenbySanderson.

I look forward to hearing from you.
