Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides acute hospital services from two large district general hospitals, as well as outpatient clinics and some surgery services from community hospitals throughout Gloucestershire. Our 9,000 colleagues provide services to almost 620,000 people across our county and we have an annual income of £620m. We are a key partner in the One Gloucestershire ICS, and we have an ambitious five-year strategic plan to transform our hospital services.
This opportunity comes at a time of significant change in the NHS and social care landscape with the pandemic further highlighting the inequalities we need to address in our society amid increasing demand for our services. We are seeking a collaborative and strategic Chair to lead, support and challenge our Board and our Council of Governors in delivering our vision; Best Care for Everyone, helping people to live longer and more healthily in the community. We operate within a complex stakeholder environment and our Chair will quickly gain credibility and build trusted relationships with our service users, carers, staff, Governors and our partners within the wider system at both regional and ‘place’ based levels.
Values-driven and inspiring, you will bring a broad range of leadership experience and successful track record of leading complex, transformational change working in partnership across organisational boundaries. NHS experience is not essential; however, you will bring relevant experience that you can translate to our environment and demonstrate the capacity to absorb and understand health and social care policy, stakeholders, and governance requirements including an appreciation of the risks we manage in our services. You will demonstrate sound judgement and political acumen that will bring focus and a fresh perspective to our aims as a system partner within a significant public service organisation. You will be an exceptional communicator who can quickly build personal credibility, able to lead others to deliver our mission and vision.
